I woke up this morning (albeit at 3 AM) from a glorious dream about my favorite disco band back in Seattle (I LOVE 70’s and 80’s music and I LOVE dancing). I used to throw myself a Birthday party, called Jyllapalooza, every year at one of their gigs. I’ve met great people and friends over the years by “following” the Band. Anyway, the dream itself was kind of weird as my first husband was there (maybe because we used to dance together in college). We were heading off to some room to get pizza and the venue for the band was some type of warehouse.
Maybe this dream was sparked because I sent my brother an email last week sharing that I missed the Seattle summers and being out boating and wake surfing, and I missed dancing. We are in the shadow of Mercury Retrograde so maybe that plays a part (revisiting, people doing “fly-bys” to check in with you).
In any case, I woke up happy that I got to “see” my band. I’m telling you one day I will have them down here to play for me. ROAR!
The Afrodisiacs are a 70’s band of 4 who have been together for over 20 years. Two of them are brothers. They play around the Seattle area. The same 4 also play as The Spazmatics (the 80’s), and Mr. Pink (female songs from 70’s to today). They have been known to travel for New Year’s Eve out of State….just saying in case you want to check them out.
As I’m missing two of my favorite activities (I get some decent dancing in here SOMETIMES), I got to thinking about what kind of FUN I am having. Gulp. Not much.
What about you? What are you doing for FUN? Reply back and let me know.
As I think about Fun, I realize that while missing participating in my favorite activities, all is not lost! Laughing yesterday with a friend at Breakfast felt good, and fun. Turning on the music and dancing around the house is Fun. Swimming in a friend’s pool overlooking the Lagoon on Sunday was fun.
FUN can be the simple things. As we change and grow in our life, maybe our fun changes.
I once went to a Laugh Group. Have you ever heard of that before? It’s a real thing. You get together and you laugh. Bring up a big belly laugh right now. Feels weird right? You are all alone, looking around. Wondering if anyone heard you! Laughing is so good for you.
What is one thing you will do today for FUN? I am going to put on some music and dance around a bit.
FUN and LAUGH and ROAR!
Jylly
Great post. I did some laughter yoga a few times. Felt so silly but is sure did release the stress!
Thanks Gwen. It is definitely a weird feeling and you do feel silly but you’re right, it is a great stress reliever!
Great post! Playing with my daughter is always fun.
Thanks! I’m sitting down to write a couple letters, that is fun to me!
I have become more of a recluse and don’t hang out with friends but for me, fun is hanging out with my son playing anything he thinks up for us to do.
That is just perfect then!
I’m out with our dog two or three hours a day. At the moment we paddle in the sea and play ball. My History MA is also fun, when I can get into it interrupted and can get in really deep. I also enjoy listening to music as much as I can. My biggest actual thrill is being on stage in a theatre production, but I can’t commit to this at the moment as it takes up so much time.
I can totally see you on stage Robert, that is fun!
