I had been rebelling and procrastinating posting Facebook Stories for a few reasons – mostly I didn’t want to mess with it on my phone because I don’t like doing things like that on my phone. I like to be able to see properly and work with my hands like on a real keyboard! (Anyone else?)
The other day I took the time and actually created something (a Holiday Video – Tender!) for a Story and figured out how to upload it from my laptop instead of my phone. And I DID IT!!! (I used InVideo in case you wondered)
And it wasn’t hard! Sure I had to Google to figure a few things out but it was really quite simple and I know will be even easier the next time!
As I was documenting the story I ended up with this big takeaway/lesson <drum roll>:
Doing new things is easier than you think because thinking isn’t actually DOING!!!
I’m curious if that resonates with you or could resonate with you regarding something you are not doing because you don’t know what doing it will be like or what doing it will lead you to.

I’m all kinds of introspective lately as I recently had my 5-year Anniversary taking the Leap and following my dream of living South of the (US) Border. I followed Intuition. That’s it. I didn’t do a bunch of research, I didn’t join FB groups to learn about Belize. I’d been here once in 2013. All I did was follow my Intuition and took baby steps then a final Jump!
I know that doesn’t compare to creating my First Facebook Story but the concept is the same. If I hadn’t taken that leap I can tell you I would still be in a cubicle wondering why I was there and what the purpose of my life was.
How would it feel to follow through on a few little teeny-tiny Baby Steps towards something that you want to do in your life – whether it is a small thing or a big thing?
What could that feel like?
Really take some time and investigate these things and your thought processes around it.
Is it possible what you are thinking isn’t really true?
Is it possible your thoughts are actually getting in the way of creating the reality and life that you truly want?
Let’s step out of those thoughts and comfort zone now and especially in 2020.
Are you with me??? I want to see you ROAR!!!
I have also blogged on thinkers and doers in the past. I am clearly one while my husband is clearly the other.
That could be an interesting dynamic!
I’m an over-thinker!!!! And, yes, my over-thinking has held me back…especially in business. But then, on the other hand, I’m quite spontaneous too. I don’t think twice about hopping in the car and taking off for the day. Or booking a cruise (by the way, I have three booked in the first half of 2020).
I moved from NY to CA without a single thought. Same with moving from CA to AZ. I think if it’s right then the answers come easy.
So, how’s Belize?
I’m the same with spontaneity at certain times and in certain ways. I agree with some things needing no thought! Belize is Beautiful and very simple and rustic!
Love the analogy of the FB story. I am in a similar place of reflecting and looking at my life to see what am I making too hard? Where am I overthinking rather than doing? Great questions, thank you!
Glad the questions helped Minette!
I can definitely be an over thinker at times and the idea of moving to a whole new country terrifies me. I live nine miles from where I grew up and feel so far away! I do think that sometimes it’s better to just get stuck in though
I used to live a couple miles from where I grew up so I totally get feeling comfortable in one place!
I like this idea of roaring. I’ve been yelling for a long time. It’s not quite the same thing. Talking about FB, I dislike all those posts about if you believe, if you support, you would copy and paste. It’s a non action. You aren’t doing anything except copying and pasting. I do wish life was that easy – copy and paste.
ROAR became my mantra 13 years ago.
Your article resonates with me. I have a phrase that is dear to my heart “Just Breathe and Do.” Believe it or not, given to me by my tree friend in Mexico. After that trip I did just that! I took a deep breath, walked into work, quit my job and started my quest for a life doing what resonates with my heart.
Ooooh I like that “Just Breathe and Do”. Sounds like you have an interesting story Judi! Is your new Quest everything you hoped it would be?
What a great video, I love it! I’m the same way with FB stories, maybe I should give it a try!
I have recently started doing a project instead of just thinking about it. It’s both easier and more difficult I expected it to be.
That happens to me sometimes too! At least we are doing not thinking!?!!
I haven’t posted a Story since but hey, at least I know how easy it is to do from the laptop! haha Let me know how it goes if you do one!
Too much thinking can delay things or cause to never happen. We have the power to do it or not.
BTW, I answered to this post yesterday, but my answer doesn’t show.
So true – the power is all ours! I don’t see any pending comments from you except this one so it must not have come through, sorry about that!
Glad you elected to roar!
You know it, Roy!
