Today is Independence Day in the USA. On July 4, 1776, the USA declared its Independence from Great Britain. It is a National Holiday and a time to get together with family and friends to BBQ, go boating, have a picnic, and set off fireworks.

I am grateful for the USA, that I was raised in a Free Nation, had opportunities galore, have been able to follow my dreams of owning my own Business and also living in another Country.
Of course here in Belize, they do not celebrate the 4th of July. Belize Independence Day is on September 21st, the day they were granted Independence from Great Britain.
I’m doing a little work and a little relaxing today.
If you aren’t from the USA, does your Country have an Independence Day and how do you celebrate!?
Hey there, a Canadian here and we celebrate on July 1st, Canada Day. We celebrate with family and friends, along with official and unofficial choices, enjoying each others’ company.
I have friends who are Canadian, it’s interesting how close our two dates are!!
I too am glad for the freedoms and opportunities that this country provides. Happy 4th!
Happy 4th to you!
I am from the US so it is the 4th of July and everyone seems to be hosting a party and Barbequing. For our family my husband works so hard we decided to do nothing today and he is napping while I work. Our son is playing on his Game System and this evening we will venture out to watch Fireworks.
I love just chilling for the Holiday!! Enjoy the fireworks tonight Glenda!
We have been calling it Canada Day since 1982 when some politician wanted to put his brand into the history books. Before that, it was called Dominion Day because of the formation of the Dominion of Canada. I guess we are a little younger, claiming our birthday on July 1, 1867. Wow, I don’t feel 152 years old.
I am in the US, so this is our day 🙂 I did some work today – 2 appointments, and while many people are also off tomorrow, I have another appointment scheduled.
I like my work, so it isn’t work for me 🙂
I”m in the US and in our city we celebrate with a flag line on the beach while the old military planes have a fly-over.
Oh that must be neat to see the old military planes! Seattle hosts the Blue Angels during their SeaFair in August which is always neat to see.
